Hyundai Coupe 2012 is Hyundai's long-awaited replacement for the Coupe. Hyundai Coupe 2012 is set to go on sale in the UK early next year. The compact 2 + 2 has been designed as a direct rival to the VW Scirocco but is expected be several thousands of pounds cheaper.

Spied by Autocar on a recent trip to Hyundai's Namyang R&D centre in Korea, the new Hyundai Coupe 2012 looks short, with quite a long and flat-looking rear deck, but is otherwise a close match for the 2007 Veloster concept.

Company insiders suggest that the Hyundai Coupe 2012 will have an asymmetric body, with two doors on the left-hand side of the car to make entry to the rear of the cabin easier from the kerb. The car will also have a conventional hatchback.

Powering the new Hyundai Coupe 2012 is Hyundai's latest 1.6-litre, direct-injection "Theta" engine. In entry-level trim it'll have 140bhp, and an optional twin-clutch gearbox. A 200bhp 1.6-litre turbo variant of Hyundai Coupe 2012 will arrive after launch.
